Despite last weekend’s poor weather delaying proceedings on the North-West coast, participants will be eager to make serious inroads on the competition.
The absence of favourite Callum Harper in the super sedans means the top spot on the podium is well and truly up for grabs this time around.
Veteran driver Anthony Manion will be the man to beat, while stiff competition from locals Steve Latham and Wayne Dillon only add to the excitement.
A strong field of wingless sprints will take to the track with Jeremy Smith, Ryan Harding, Luke Redpath, Troy Lewis and Brad Walkley, all possible candidates to take out the entertaining race class.
AMCA races have been full of intrigue, which is set to continue in Hobart with Daniel Brooks and Rodney Bassett looking to challenge current champion Jake Briggs.
Other contenders include Dave Birch, Justin Richardson and Rohan Blair from the 20-odd competing vehicles.
In the street stocks, track officials will be on high-alert with the traditional misconduct and carnage bound to have some impact on the results.
A close eye will be kept on the competition with officials also vowing to prevent any mishaps in what will be a tightly-contested event.
A small pool of drivers in the Formula 500’s will mean a super competitive field will take to the track to battle it out for speedway supremacy.
Ricki Weatherill, Dylan Beveridge, Kristian Kelly and Taylor Johnson are the gun drivers predicted to take the reins off the hard hitting winner Kylie Jetson. She will certainly be under intense pressure from rivals Brodie Thow, Todd Bennett and Harley Croft.
Jetson’s past two starts in Hobart have been eventful, with a rollover followed by a win, to show for her efforts.
The racing will start from 4pm with three classes of karts (junior, 125’s and senior) set to blaze the track alight to impress an early audience.
With 11 winners from the 12 feature races held so far this season, there will be plenty of action from the start of the meeting.
The main track action will commence at 6pm with the traditional Christmas fireworks aiming to light up the night sky just after dusk.
The Hobart speedway was founded over 30 years ago and has operated on a continuous basis since then.
With the Hobart track having a capacity crowd of over 5000, the unique clay surface will hopefully provide drivers with the perfect canvas for entertainment.
