After not having a single player drafted last year, AFL Tasmania state talent manager Jy Bond believes even getting one selected at Friday’s AFL National Draft would be “massive” for the state.

Four Tasmanians are seen as realistic chances to find an AFL home, with Tigers’ Hugh Dixon at the front of the pack.
He is predicted to go in the third round if he is picked.
Others in contention are Launceston’s Jake Hinds, Burnie’s Tom Mundy and Glenorchy’s Harrison Gunther.
That trio are seen as a late or rookie draft pick.
“The state was probably a little bit flat last year, and while we don’t have a bumper crop this year, we are really hopeful and are crossing our fingers that we do get one, and the chances are it is going to be Hugh,’’ Bond said.
“I think he deserves it and he has worked hard, but he is not our only hope. We do know that anything can happen, so it wouldn’t surprise me if any of the other guys went as well.”
