Held at Goaty Hill Wines in Kayena, the event is being run in support of The Examiner’s Empty Stocking Appeal and is aimed at bringing the community together for a great day of live music, food and wine.
A Day at the Goat has been held since 2011, organised by the vineyard’s owners Tony and Natasha Nieuwhof, Kristine Grant and Markus Maislinger.
Mr Nieuwhof said Saturday was shaping up to be another fantastic day, with live music from local bands the Smokin Elmores and Ella Rose.
“This is something we really love putting on and something the community always gets behind,” he said.
“We choose a different charity each year and I think the Empty Stocking Appeal is particularly special.
“This is a local event so we have always tried to choose charities that support the local community directly.
“People know it is a free event but are always very generous.
“Hopefully the weather stays on our side and everyone comes along for another fantastic day in the vines.”
Along with some great live music, Saturday’s event will also feature food from The Good Food Float, Casa Paella, Lol Kitchen and South Coast Canteen, Glennroys coffee and the best of Goaty Hill’s wine.
Mrs Nieuwhof said the event, held twice a year, has been shaped by the support received from the community.
“What started as a relatively small event has grown into something the community have really gotten behind,” she said.
“This event has really lent itself to some great collaborations with other local businesses and this is the sort of the we ourselves would want to go to.
“It is about celebrating Tasmania’s best products through a really rewarding collaboration process.
“It is very much about the industry and about giving back.”
Entry for A Day at the Goat is by donation, with all proceeds this year going to The Examiner’s Empty Stocking Appeal.
Organisers recommend people bring a picnic rug as seating will be limited.
Gates will open at 11am and the event will wrap up at 5pm.
