On Tuesday, the Brooks students tried out their graduation gowns for the first time, an opportunity they were awarded thanks to their participation in the Children’s University Tasmania program.
Run by the Peter Underwood Centre as part of Children’s University Australia, the program gives students extra projects and opportunities outside school to help build confidence in different areas.
Leading the parade will be particularly exciting for the Brooks students as they will walk ahead of their own student teacher, Dylan Evans, who graduates this year.
“We signed up for out-of-school learning activities,” student Chelsea Phillips said.
“It was a lot of fun.”
Each student was given their own passport marking all their hours in the program and celebrating their efforts.
Chelsea said activities included sport, youth group, and visiting UTAS for its open day.
