The late model feature was controversial.

Brad Smith qualified on pole with Australian champion Callum Harper alongside. Harper hit the lead early in the first turn, however, Smith was not going to be content with second.

As he moved back into the lead, Harper spun and, after some deliberation, officials sent Harper to the rear as they deemed him the primary cause of the stoppage.

Smith powered away as Harper fought his way through the back markers. After a stoppage midway through the race the officials noted that Harper had passed on the inside of the restart cone and was given a one-plus-one penalty and the race was again restarted.

Meanwhile Jason Cox was having a great race, fending off Nathan Rainbird and Josh Beaumont as Harper fought his way through to second and started to close in on Smith.

At the finish line the order was Smith, Harper and Cox but Harper was disqualified as he deliberately rammed Smith’s car on the cool down lap. This moved Cox into second and Beaumont third. 

The street stock final was abandoned and declared after only two laps as multiple cars were wrecked in several hard-hitting incidents. A total of seven cars were in need of major repair from the 13 that began the 20-lap final.

The junior race was again won by Jakobe Jetson who set a new lap record during heats of 17.986.

During the final he was challenged early by Jayden Triffett who was sent to the rear on lap one and would later withdraw. Jesse White also challenged in traffic but in the end Jetson pulled away as White had his hands full keeping Cody Gay at bay.

The Tassie sixes Hobart Classic event was dominated early by Dwayne Sonners but he would fail to finish as his air-cleaner cover came off and lodged on the front screen restricting his vision.

Cameron Briggs won the event which was cut short as the result of several stoppages from Todd Russell and Heath Bennett.

The sprintcar final was dominated again by Jason Redpath who is on quite a winning streak. Mark House was able to match pace with Redpath but could never get close enough to mount a serious challenge. Adam Alexander fought his way up to third.

The bomber final was the cleanest race of them all and these cars are allowed contact. Kylie Jetson took several laps to pass Steven Croft but once in front pulled away to a commanding lead with Harry Moore third.

The season continues next Saturday night at Carrick.
