With 12 gardens to explore, Longford has become a haven for those with a green-thumb.
Cathie Green and Evelyn McNeair, stewards at the Longford Garden Club’s Spring Garden Show in the Longford Town Hall, said the flower show is set to be a success.
“Members and others bring their entries in in the morning, and they’re then judged…prizegiving will take place at 3.30pm on Sunday,” they said.
Ms Green and Ms McNeair said the Longford Garden Club have a long and rich history behind them.
“The club has been going for 63 years, and the Spring Garden Show has been going for 49 years,” they said.
When asked about their favorites on display, Ms McNeair found it hard to pick.
“Roses are one of the nicest flowers, but I like any flower, myself,” she said.
The festival will continue on until Sunday 19 November, and tickets are $5 to all open gardens.
