The Eagles hold 3-3 win-loss record with the round 7 Greater Northern Cup victory thanks largely to some standout individual performances at Invermay Park.
Opener Luke Scott compiled a steady 62 off 146 balls and all-rounder Jarrod Freeman struck a near run-a-ball 61 to guide Mowbray to 6-176.
The pair combined for a match-winning 101 third-wicket partnership, while Ollie Wood was the Blues’ star bowler with 3-27 and skipper Tom Garwood also grabbed 2-39.
The reply was dreadful.
Riverside was all out for 62 in 25 overs with Justin Reeves (4-19), Freeman (3-13) and Blake Cassidy (2-6) sharing in the spoils.
The Blues were 6-25 before some resistance as Alex Saunders (10 not out) and Lyndon Stubbs (13) ended up being the best of a bad bunch.
“Luke and Jarrod summed up the batting conditions really well to set us up and then to bowl the way we did was extremely pleasing,” Mowbray captain John LeFevre said.
“Luke is a young left-hander that has come up through the ranks and is just a really smart cricketer.
“He knows his game and does cop a little bit from the opposition from time-to-time but he sets himself and bats periods of time for us and allows others to bat around him.
“Justin bowled nice and consistently and the pitch was lush, quick and bouncy so it offered a bit to the bowlers.”
WESTBURY became the lastest side to fall to a resurgent Launceston at Westbury Oval.
Lions skipper Alistair Taylor’s decision to bat first paid off with a magnificent 101-run stand between Tom Bennett (72) and Ben Humphrey (44) setting the match and eventual result up perfectly.
Launceston finished on 9-236.
Shamrocks seamer Jono Chapman (4-31) and Alex Kerrison (2-26) toiled hard before Launceston’s James Curran (3-42), Humphrey (2-23) and Tom Gray (2-36) made batting difficult.
Dane Anderson hit a stylish 53, Matt Battle made 27 and Sean Stevenson finished unbeaten on 41 when the hosts were cleaned up for 182, falling short by 54 runs.
“The boys showed some maturity today and Tommy absolutely smoked them, went about it the right way and boosted our score up from 180 to 230,” Taylor said.
“Dane Anderson got away from us early with 50 off not too many and we just dug in and everyone managed to do a job when they came on.
“The spinners once again bowled beautifully.
“Results are going our way at the moment and I’m really happy to beat a strong Westbury side out there because it’s never an easy task.”
ULVERSTONE recorded its fourth win of the tournament with a 41-run triumph over Devonport at home.
Ulverstone compiled 9-227 in the opening innings of the day, despite being in some trouble at 3-27.
Opener Jacob Snare (36) helped them recover somewhat before James Smith (45) and Brent Munday (37 not out) provided some later-order hitting.
Orions pacemen Chris Lindsay collected 3-19 and Sam O’Mahoney snagged 2-42.
Cody Brown played a lone hand in the run chase with an impressive knock of 74 with Anish Paraan (32) and Brad Moore (30) the next best as Devonport was bundled out for 186 with eight balls remaining in its allotted overs.
Four Ulverstone bowlers picked up two wickets apiece.
BURNIE was crushed by ladder-leaders Latrobe at West Park to a 104-run tune.
The Demons were sent into bat having lost the toss and made a steady start with Callan Morse (25) and skipper Tristan Weeks (49) putting on a 59-run opening stand.
Trent Keep (46) and Joel Salter (57) then consolidated before Max Carius and Heath Davies finished 24 and 23 not out, respectively, to take Latrobe to 4-244.
Nick Rolls was the Hurricanes best bowler with 1-29 off 10 overs, while Brodie Hayes anchored their response with an innings-high score of 46.
He had mild support from Josh Barry (28) and Jack McCulloch (23) in the middle order, but in the end it was the Demons’ bowlers that won the day – dismissing second-placed Burnie for 140 in 38.1 overs.
Dion Parsons (3-32) and Rob Milford (3-21) were the chief destroyers.
SHEFFIELD’s bowling attack made light work of a win-less Wynyard outfit – dismissing the visitors for a paltry 49.
It took the Mountaineers 32 overs to get the job done with Brady Neubacher (2-13), Marc Simmonds (2-7) and Sam Robinson (2-12) picking up two scalps each.
The Blues innings included four ducks with Matthew Saltmarsh (11) and skipper Peter Fulton (12 not out) the only batsmen to achieve double figures.
In response, Sheffield lost three wickets but surpassed the required total in 14.1 overs.
Richard Cowland (12) and Alex King (13) were the top scorers in Sheffield’s second win, while Marcus Gee collected 3-25 in defeat.
