Jones suggested his team had more "respect" because they fronted a meeting with the man with the whistle before the game.

While earlier reports suggested Cheika was not going to meet with referee Ben O'Keeffe before the match, it is understood the Wallabies boss will do so in a separate meeting to Jones on Friday.

Dwyer, a former Wallabies World Cup coach, had earlier made comments to Fairfax Media, calling on O'Keeffe to be aware of dirty tactics from England props Dan Cole and Joe Marler, while Cheika expressed his view that England held back Australia's No.9 and No.10 during Tests last year.

Jones made an unscheduled media appearance on Friday after England's captain's run and said he had confidence that Dwyer and Cheika's comments would not influence the match officials.

"The referee is an intelligent guy and I'm sure he won't be influenced by comments made in the press," Jones said.

"I am disappointed that he [Dwyer] is a bit late. Bob normally comes earlier in the week but he has come in later and it is all part of the fun and games of England and Australia Test matches.

"Obviously they [Australia] enjoy the media more than the referee. I have coached over 100 Tests and every Test I have had a meeting with the referee and it is a sign of respect that you want to know what he wants from the game and what we want and it is a mutual exchange of information for the benefit of the game.

"We always meet the referee and there is nothing unusual about that."

It appeared Jones was under the impression Cheika was going to brush a meeting with the referees.

Pressed on the accusation that England have been holding onto Australian players late, Jones believed there was nothing to it.

"We have played four games against them and had good referees in those games and he [Cheika] obviously feels the referees haven't done a good job so possibly he should be taking that up with the referee not the media," Jones said.

"We haven't had a player penalised for that particular incident at all and we've had four good referees. What do you make of that?

"We are more concerned about ourselves and have worked very hard this week and want to put in a good performance and our concentration has been on ourselves. We have had a good preparation and those comments by Australia is literally water off a duck's back."

On Thursday, Cheika said England had bullied Australia during previous matches, another remark that Jones was perplexed by.

"You get up in the morning and there is a story on cyberbullying... It's a common word to use [at the moment]," he said.
