Health and physical education subject leader Michael Smith said competition was exceptionally strong with Tamar House maintaining its first day lead and winning the shield for the fifth year in a row.
”The skill and talent on display was of a very high standard,” he said.
The four houses battled it out across a range of traditional events with day one held on the school oval and the second day at St Leonards Athletic Centre, both venues graced by fantastic weather.
A highlight of the carnival was the 80-metre hurdles with more than 100 students taking part.
The innovative commando-type challenges and mountain bike course were a great success and very popular with competitors.
Isaac Chugg and Makala Bingley both set a hat-trick of records.
In the Year 9 400m, Chugg clocked 53.39 to beat a decade-old record of 54.49, established a new benchmark of 12.66m in the triple jump and threw the discus 42.44m to break a record of 40.90m which had stood since 1981.
Bingley dominated the Year 8 female field events, breaking 16-year-old records of 25.55m and 10.45m in the discus and shot put respectively with throws of 31.25 and 11.35 and throwing the javelin 31.82m to beat the existing benchmark of 29.66 set by Morgan Pinner in 2010.
Sam Talbot and Abbie Butler broke two records each.
Talbot ran 4:41.00 to win the Year 8 1500m and jumped 6.60m in the Year 10 long jump.
Butler established a middle-distance double, knocking nearly a minute off the existing record with a time of 5:06.00 in the Year 8 1500m and eclipsing a 33-year-old record with a time of 2:34.00 in the Year 7 800m.
