Everyone’s favourite bearded man will stop by the Brisbane Street mall on Friday to light the Christmas tree.
Cityprom’s marketing and engagement officer Laura Wilson said the event was aimed at families.
“[Chirstmas in the City] kind of launches the retail shopping period for Christmas. It’s a chance for families to get out and see the tree lit up and get excited for Christmas,” she said.
“We’ll have a children’s area that will have balloon artists, arts and crafts and different obstacle courses and entertainment.”
Eight different local performers will take to the Charles Street stage throughout the night. Entertainment will be start from 6pm.
“We will be getting Santa here at all stops. We’ve got great plans for the evening. It will be really and kids are the focus for the event,” Ms Wilson said.
In 2016 about 4000 people attended the event. The event runs from 6pm until 9pm.
