Walter Whip and the Flames will be the main act at Scottsdale Show this weekend – with Walter Le Souef showing unbelievable skills with stock whips.
In two shows, Friday at 8.15pm and Saturday at 1.15pm, there will be an “extreme” bullock whip demonstration, the “Walk of Terror”, balloon and rose stunts, a fire whip performance and fire stunts.
Whip cracking workshops will also be held for the kids throughout the two days - Friday 3-5pm and Saturday 10-12pm.
Friday night's band gets everyone up dancing
- - Maureen Gatenby
One of the best trial motorbike riders in the country, Chris Bales, will take his bike over obstacles that will be hard to believe, and a team of crazy WSM freestyle riders will demonstrate their dare devil nature and amaze everyone with incredible jumps and flips through the air.
Demonstrations take place Friday 11am, 4pm and 6.30pm and on Saturday 10am and 12pm.
Known for its hotly contested homecraft section and junior cattle handling and judging contests, the Scottsdale Show will make sure all ages are entertained.
And if you’re in the right spot at the right time, there are great prizes to be won. During the two days of the show people who are spotted in the “lucky spot” will go into the draw to win one of two helicopter rides with Flinders Is Aviation, based at Bridport. Friday night is a chance to let your hair down, with country rock band The Unit performing from 8pm in the shearing shed.
The equestrian section is traditionally well supported with showjumping, riding and led classes. Twilight chopping is on all day Saturday along with the Yard Dog Association trials.
Show pageantry features on Saturday morning in the Scottsdale Football Club rooms along with the judging of Miss Teenager, Miss Junior Show, Miss Tiny Tot and Master Tiny Tot at 11am. And don’t miss the grand parade, a real spectacle to be led by the show ambassador at 2pm.
