Tasmania Police search for thief after he robbed a taxi driver at Mowbray

Police are searching for a man after he threatened and robbed a taxi driver at knifepoint in the state’s north on Thursday. 

The man stole cash from the taxi while it was parked in Dover Street at Mowbray about 4.20pm. 

The thief is described as being about 180 centimetres tall, Caucasian, slim build, shaved dark-brown hair on his head, clean shaven with sores on his face.

He was wearing old, light coloured runners; dark blue shorts with white accents and a white t-shirt under a green long-sleeved camouflage top.

Tasmania Police is calling on anyone with information about the thief’s identity or location to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or the Launceston Criminal Investigations Branch on 6777 3915.
