The men’s sprint event was taken out by Andrew Watson, while Ella Boxhall won the women’s sprint race.
However, organisers were forced to modify proceedings just a day before the races, according to club vice president Matthew Wheatley.
After a York Creek sewage spill, the club was forced to move the swimming leg of the race to the George Town Aquatic Centre, despite TasWater’s confirmation of water safety.
“The day was the same recipe, just a slightly different flavour,” Mr Wheatley said.
”It didn’t turn out to be a bad thing, because there were a lot of first timers who may not have been comfortable in the open water.”
