Developer Errol Stewart said the project was “looking good” for an official opening at the end of April, but it could be earlier.
“We are really tracking along well now. As we go up we have got better and quicker at building each level of accommodation,” he said.
“There’s still challenges in a high level building, as there always will be, but we are on top of those and I think everybody has now got down to a really good rhythm.”
The restaurant will be the first portion of the project fully completed, with floor-to-ceiling glass now in place, allowing visitors to drink in views of the mountains, the city and the river.
“The restaurant is coming along well and it’s not too far away, we’ll have a small private function here pre-Christmas just to get it rolling,” Mr Stewart said.
Once operational the hotel is set to employ 43 staff to service about 27,000 visitors per year, injecting an estimated $8 million into the local economy annually.
Increasing tourism numbers did not initially play a major part in the decision to build the Silo Hotel according to Mr Stewart.

“I think we are probably going to open just at the perfect time, with perhaps a bit more luck than good management,” he said.
“I think MONA has obviously had an effect which has spread throughout the island … and I think people see what a great place it is and Launceston is obviously the first port of call from Hobart.”
The redevelopment of the Kings Wharf grain silos will also include meeting rooms and a number of outdoor areas for guests to enjoy.
Mr Stewart first revealed his plans for the disused silos in January, 2013.
