Tasmania Fire Service said on Tuesday the 7500-hectare blaze was “contained” but warned the public to remain vigilant.
Incident Controller Rob Buck said “although community alerts have been removed and the fire is currently contained, there is still potential with the right conditions for the fire to flare up”.
“We will not be considering the fire fully extinguished until we receive significant rainfall, which may not be for several months,” he said.
The Argonaut Road fire has been burning for two weeks with smoke still expected to affect St Helens and surrounding communities for several days.
On Friday, Tasmania Fire Service and Tasmania Police investigators deemed the fire accidental – the blaze is believed to have started from an extinguished burn-off that reignited.
It was the first significant bushfire of the season and saw roads closed and an emergency warning issued when it travelled towards properties on Terryvale Road at Goshen.
A Watch and Act Alert was also issued for Powers Road and Siamese Road at Pyengana.
But there continued to be no immediate threat to properties near the blaze on Tuesday afternoon.
"Fire crews have worked immensely hard during the last few days and we are confident that the fire doesn't currently pose any immediate risk to the public,” Mr Buck said.
