The operation now encompasses other members of their extended family in delivering modern luxury houses in the Launceston area.
Given D&B Goodyer Developments’ success, with up to 10 different job sites on the go at any one time, a streamlined tradesman organisation has resulted, with great success.
“Over the last 15 years, we have grown with more tradesmen on board our growing business,” Darren explains. “We have our own plumbers, electricians and builders who also play an important role in making our business successful.”
“Once people see our products and finishes inside our homes, they see there are no added extras that they would receive with a lot of other building contractors.
“We understand when people want to build a home, they find it difficult to come up with extra funds, so we talk with our clients at the start of the process and include all extras in their quote.
“We don’t start with minimal PC items - all our bathroom products, tiles, carpet, lighting you see in our homes are our standard range. Double-glazed windows are standard in all our quotes as the way of the future for energy efficiency, as are LED downlights throughout our homes.
The energy-conscious approach is carried through to the new electrical business Darren has recently started. Specialists in LED light replacement, they also do heat pump installation and servicing, as well as all electrical works to be a one-stop shop.
FAMILY IS THE KEY
Of all the many highlights over the last 15 years, Darren and Belinda are most proud of their children who have had to grow up with very busy parents and still have succeeded in their own achievements.
“While it is great to have a successful business, we do and have done things as a family all our life and this has worked for us both for our business and pleasure. This is a highlight now and will always be a highlight of our life,” Darren said.
“Today we have many family members working within our business,” Belinda said. “Darren grew up in a large family...two of his brothers are in our business as well as two nephews who are builders and another nephew who is our photographer.
“It has been great to keep the Goodyer name growing in this business. Our son Jock will be joining the team next year starting an apprenticeship while our girls, Abbi and Brooke, have helped out over the years with open homes, call-outs, etc...and we think will eventually help out the business in years to come.”
