Launceston duo Tash and Emma have a rich history of friendship with the Melbourne-based singer-songwriter dating back to when they toured the together several years ago. Stringer said the opportunity to play a show with the pair was a major motivator in the gig.
“We’d been try to organise a show for a while in both directions, so it just happened this weekend was the time that suited everyone,” she said. “Tash and I went on a tour from Darwin to Broome in 2008, which was amazing, and I think I met Emma at around the same time.”
Stringer may have honed her craft in Melbourne, but her musical journey has encompassed multiple stints overseas. Tours of Germany early in her career have been complemented with recording sessions in America and also Canada.
After Launceston, she will head out on tour with the Festival of Small Halls event, where she will be supported by Vance Gilbert.
Stringer said she plans to head overseas again in the new year to record what will be her sixth studio album.
“I’ll be going to Canada to start recording new material in February,” she said. “I think I’ll be spending a fair bit of time over there in the next couple of years, because I plan on doing more work in North America
“It’s also only seven hours to Frankfurt from Toronto, and I’m already planning a tour of Germany for 2019.”
Stringer will play at Saint John Craft Beer Bar on Saturday from 7.30pm.
