After racing to a third place finish in the boy’s state championships earlier this year, Holli Geeves took her game to the national level and came back with a third-place finish in the 12-16 girls Mini Lites.
“We’re proud of her, we’re really proud of her,” dad Rick said.
“That’s why we wanted to go to nationals, to see how she fared against the other girls in Australia because here she races against all boys.
“Obviously finishing third in Australia is a pretty good effort, she’s racing against factory riders with factory bikes and we’re doing it on a shoestring budget.”

The 15-year-old’s love for motocross began at the age of five when her dad bought her a four-wheeler and three years later she competed in her first race.
Next year Geeves will compete in the national championships in her home state and her sights are set on the top prize.
“I’ll have the home track advantage next year,” she said.
“I’m hopefully aiming to get first next year as it’ll be my last year in juniors.”
Regardless of whether she can claim victory one thing is for sure - her dad will be cheering her on from the stands.
“It’s not a mainstream thing for a girl to do but it’s what she loves,” he said.
“When she comes off the track with a smile on her face even when it’s gruelling, you know that she’s enjoying it.”
