Among the attractions on Saturday, November 11, will be a cattle display, model plane demonstrations, yard dogs, a pet parade competition, a horse show and a sidesaddle horse riding demonstration.
There will also be a kids corner, featuring horse riding, an animal nursery, face painting and activities run by the Police Citizens Youth Club.
One of the biggest drawcards will be the presence of chainsaw sculptor Eddie Freeman.
Show president Kevin Lattin said the event was a great opportunity for people in the community to come together.
“The show injects a bit of life into the town,” Mr Lattin said.
“It’s a good social point for the farming community, and a big part of the day is the social aspect.
“Getting around and seeing people you don’t see all that often.”
In addition, Mr Lattin also said it was an opportunity for the town to demonstrate what it has to offer to visitors.
“Looking around the crowd, there’s generally a lot of people I don’t recognise,” he said.
“I’d say that people come out from Launceston, and they might come back other weekends to check out Steamworld and a few other different things.
“People even came from Circular Head a few years ago to see how they could improve their show.”
The annual event is one of Tasmania’s oldest shows, and has some major differences from Tasmania’s larger shows.
The Showmen’s Guild of Tasmania does not have a presence at the show, meaning no sideshow alley events and no amusement rides.
The Westbury Show also makes a profit.
“I’ve been involved with the show for five or six years now, and we seem to get a reasonably good crowd – it’s making a profit every year,” Mr Lattin said.
“Launceston Show organisers told me, ‘shows don’t make a profit’, well ours certainly does.”
The Westbury Show will be held on November 11 from 8am until 4pm at the Westbury Showground.
Tickets cost $10 for adults and $5 for children.
