The service was established by the state-owned company when the island lost its regular service provided by the Investigator II.
Despite the loss, TasPorts generated a $3.7 million after-tax operating profit.
This allowed a $1.3 million dividends payment to the government – the biggest return 2007.
The company’s annual report, released on Thursday, noted the state’s export growth by 6.9 per cent to 8.9 million tonnes.
Just over 2.2 million tonnes of freight was exported from Bell Bay – a 5.7 per cent increase on the year before.
King Island exports grew 26 per cent to 41,123 tonnes
There were 2.9 million tonnes of woodchips exported from Tasmania over 2016-17; the highest volume commodity to leave the state.
