A bushfire at Goshen will be difficult to control and might become high risk, Tasmania Fire Service says.
Tasmania Fire Service reclassified the fire on Argonaut Rd to a Watch and Act as fire crews have been able to protect residents by burning around properties.
However, fire crews would be at Terryvale Road throughout the night as the fire might put the road “at high risk within the next 30 minutes”, they said.
They warn the fire would be difficult to control and embers, smoke and ash might fall, they said.
“Terryvale Road is currently accessible for residents and emergency services only.”
UPDATE 6.40PM:
A bushfire at Goshen is no longer an emergency situation.
Tasmania Fire Service downgraded the fire to Watch and Act about 6.30pm.
“Fire crews up to this point have been able to burn around properties to prevent impact and protect residents that have stayed,” they said.
The blaze is burning across nearly 4500 hectares.

UPDATE FRIDAY 4PM:
An emergency warning has been issued for Goshen on the East Coast.
A 4000-hectare bushfire continues to burn in the area near St Helens, with properties on Terryvale Road now at risk.
Tasmania Police closed the road at the Tasman Highway intersection.
Tasmania Fire Service said the blaze has broken out and will be “difficult to control with embers, smoke and ash falling on the road”.
Residents are urged to start taking action.
Break O’Day mayor Mick Tucker said smoke could still be seen from St Helens, four days after the fire was first reported.
“We just hope nobody is hurt and there is no loss of infrastructure,” he said.
“We have incredibly good firefighters and parks and wildlife are there … there are a lot of people out there fighting the fire.”
UPDATE FRIDAY:
A fire at St Helens is burning across more than 4000 hectares.
The blaze is about 10 kilometres west of St Helens and is affecting Argonaut Road, Hogans Road and Wolframs Creek Road.
Tasmania Fire Service said Thursday’s rain had “allowed crews to continue to establish control lines around the fire edge”.
“This will continue for several days. Some additional smoke maybe observed as crews back burn out from control lines as they are constructed.”
The fire remained at advice level on Friday, with a smoke alert still in place for St Helens and surrounding areas.
“Residents within close proximity of the fire have had protection measures put in place,” TFS said.
EARLIER:
East Coast residents are being warned about bushfire smoke spreading across the region.
A fire is burning more than 3000 hectares at St Helens and is causing smoke along the coast and affecting areas including Bicheno and St Marys.
The blaze on Argonaut Road remains at advice level, with no immediate threat to residents.
Multiple Tasmania Fire Service crews remain on site, working to contain the fire as well as SES workers.
On Wednesday afternoon, Tasmania Fire Service was responding to 15 bushfires across the state, with the fire danger rating sitting at high in the north and south.
TFS urged residents not to undertake fuel reduction burns on Wednesday and Thursday.
“We also urge anyone who has had a burn going on their property in the last 72 hours to continue to monitor that area to ensure the fire is properly extinguished and not at risk of reignition,” they said.
