A Newnham man who died crossing the road is being remembered as a “beloved son, treasured brother and loved partner”.

In an Examiner death notice, Ian George Palmer's family paid tribute to the 65-year-old, who died on York Street in Launceston on Monday morning.
"Beloved son of the late Reginald and Marjory Palmer. Treasured brother and brother-in-law of Dorothy and Bob Grundy, Nola and Norman Johns and families. Loved partner of Janet. Precious and adored by Darren and Annette. Very special mate of Samuel Clifford. Rest in Peace, my darling."
Following Mr Palmer's death, friends shared words of support online.
“So sad, we knew this lovely man, heartbreaking for his family,” Colleen Berne wrote.
“Big hugs [and] kisses to my dear friend on her loss,” Susan Medcraft said.
“No words can explain, sadly our work family has to do this all again. Big hugs,” Debra Davern added.
Others, who were at the scene of Monday’s incident, expressed their shock and sadness over the “tragedy”.
“I drove past this so sad,” Lee McDonald said.
“Thoughts to all the families and lives that are involved here,” Janine McGill said.

Mr Palmer’s family have invited friends and relatives to his funeral on Monday at the Punchbowl Christian Centre.
Tasmania Police is continuing to investigate the incident.
The driver, a man in his 70s, was not physically injured.
