A parliamentary committee recently recommended a significant reduction in pokies in this state.

Bass Greens MHA Andrea Dawkins, who was a member of the committee, moved the Wednesday motion because she believed pokies should be removed from pubs and clubs entirely.
“We must act whilst we have a chance and remove these machines,” Ms Dawkins said.
Denison Labor MHA Scott Bacon, another member of the committee, said the Greens were “playing politics with a serious issue”.
Treasurer Peter Gutwein, meanwhile, derided Labor for supposedly lacking a pokies policy.
The Greens’ motion was soundly defeated.
