On Wednesday, schools will be able to flag their interest in the initiative.
Education Minister Jeremy Rockliff said there had been a 58 per cent increase in enrolments at the first 12 schools that had extended since 2014.
A total of 30 schools have been extended so far, with another eight set to extend in 2018.
“Extending high schools to year 12 removes the perception that schooling finishes at year 10, and removes barriers such as travel which can stop students completing their education,” Mr Rockliff said.
“More students [are] … getting the qualifications they need to get a job or continue their study.
“As more schools sign up for this initiative, more students have the opportunity to complete their education.”
Mr Rockliff said the government wanted to improve the year 12 retention rate.
Expressions of interest close on November 17.
