A Tasmanian Fire Service spokeswoman said triple zero callers reported hearing explosions.
“The car is fully alight. The fire is apparently near the rail line,” she said.
The fire was on Old Bell Bay Road.
Three Tasmania Fire Service vehicles attended the fire.
The fire was contained about 9.20pm.
