An organ dating back to 1862 was returned to its longtime home of Evandale last week.

The antique instrument was donated to the Evandale Historical Society by Gosford woman, and Launceston-native, Marlene McKlintock.
The portable organ was originally owned by Mrs McKlintock’s great-grandmother Mary Whish-Wilson.
Mrs Whish-Wilson played the organ every Sunday at St Andrew’s Anglican Church and St Andrew’s Uniting Church between 1881 and 1898.
Mrs McKlintock also donated a number of Mrs Whish-Wilson’s personal artifacts.
Evandale Historical Society chairman Laurie Wotherspoon said the organ will be lent to churches across the region.
