One of the highlights was the inter-association teams race, with the North-West defending its title.
Gowrie Park axeman Kody Steers had a weekend to remember, winning five of the six championships on offer.
Steers cleaned up in the 350mm standing, 300mm hard hitting (which he won by six blows), hot saw, and 325mm underhand championship events, while also performing strongly in handicap events.
His only blemish came in the 375mm single-handed sawing championship, in which he finished second to Daniel Beams, of Winkleigh.
Beams and Steers combined to claim the 450mm double-handed sawing championship and finish second in the handicap version.
Winkleigh veteran Dale Beams’ chainsaw failed to fire on the first pull in the final and he finished third behind Steers and Stuart Read.
Veteran 16-time world tree-felling champion Matthew Gurr, of Deloraine, proved “the tree” was still his domain with a come from behind win in the 300mm handicap over his son Daniel.
The Dudley Eaves Memorial 375mm single-handed sawing handicap was won by Luke Gurr ahead of David Foster and Steers.
Huonville cousins Will and Blake Lovell won four underhand handicaps between them, while Australian women’s timbersports champion Amanda Beams, along with Nevanka Woolley and Bec Maine, were the pacesetters in women’s events.
