The event was held in Melbourne between October 6 and 8, and featured five Tasmanians competing in the rookie category.
The 20-year old won the event after finishing fourth in last year’s event.
This year his win was highlighted by coming first in the stock saw event, after he finished with a time of 12.70 seconds.
Gurr's victory means he will compete in the 2018 Stihl Timbersports World Championships.
"It's good to get a chance to go away and compete for my country," he said.
"I'm pretty confident, but I've got a bit of work to do on my single buck."
