Speakers including Hume City Council’s George Osborne, Wrest Point’s Kathryn McCann, MONA’s Mark Wilsdon and entrepreneur Tim Brewer outlined the role of different sectors in sparking innovation.
Mr Wilsdon said it rarely comes from just one source.
“It’s about activating the communities within a town,” he said.
“Our experience in cultural activities such as festivals is that it often brings a sense of pride to communities.
“If you can get people feeling really happy and proud about where they live and what they do, then other people are going to come in and want to experience that as well.
He added Launceston was a unique position when it came to change.
“I think the time is right for a lot of things in Launceston,” he said.
“It’s definitely an exciting place for us, in terms of the opportunities it raises.”
