The event aimed to lift the lid on mental health.
This year’s mental health week theme is ‘stronger together’, Mental Health Council Tasmania’s Catherine Delpero said.
“It’s about bringing the community together and talking about how we can improve our mental health,” she said.
The barbecue also had live music to encourage people to sit and relax, organiser Rob Pearce said.
“Listening to some music in a relaxed atmosphere is an example of things you could do for your mental health,” he said.
“We had an open mic event and then later we have panel about youth mental health.”
The panel included Dr Mark Cross, Lucy Thomas from Project Rocket (an interstate organisation focusing on bullying in schools) and Adam Mostogl.
“It’s about encouraging young people to think about other opportunities,” Mr Pearce said.
