The funding, to be announced on Thursday, is part of the government’s plan to increase the value of the agricultural sector to $10 billion by 2050.
“We are funding a diverse range of projects with farmers, growers and fishers to support industry growth, job creation and prosperity in our rural communities,” Primary Industries Minister Jeremy Rockliff said.
“Projects range from supporting those in the industry to advance their technical and business management skills that can assist on-farm production and develop markets, developing digital technologies to increase operational efficiencies and ensuring good communication and collaboration between farmers or fishers to promote and grow their industry.”
The allocations are:
- $150,000 for Wine Tasmania to improve wine quality and production and for market development;
- $60,000 for the Tasmanian Agricultural Productivity Group for precision agriculture expos;
- $7000 to Poppy Growers Tasmania for grower forums;
- $70,000 for DairyTas for financial management mentoring and dairy conversion plans;
- $150,000 for Rural Business Tasmania for farm business financial workshops and coaching;
