The aldermen are set to discuss the transfer of five sites to the University of Tasmania for the Northern Campus relocation.
Alderman Danny Gibson has already spoken out about the plan, with concerns about community access to the Queen Victoria Museum and Art Gallery.
“It appears to me that the interests of the University in getting this deal done and dusted before the VC's departure, at the end of October, are taking priority over the best interests of all stakeholders,” he said.
“The Chamber of Commerce have suggested I might be nervous about this exchange and that I should not hold up the project.
“As I see it, it's my job to interrogate our ratepayers' interests - that's not being nervous. I'm elected to represent the ratepayers and residents; notwithstanding the bigger picture educational and economic outcomes, which I support and have tried to work towards and up until last Monday, thought we were working towards.”
Also on the agenda is a final decision on the design for the Seaport pedestrian bridge and the official endorsement of Michael Stretton as the new general manager.
The council will also consider changes to the 2017/2018 statutory estimates and will receive the annual financial statements for the year ended June 30, 2017.
