The Only Share Healthy Air event taught the pupils about the environmental impact of backyard burning and smoke emitted from outdoor wood heaters.
This included a practical demonstration of correct backyard burning techniques.
“It’s important that only dry, seasoned wood is burnt in your wood heater, as smoke can contain toxic particles,” Meander Valley’s health officer Durga Gopala-Krishnan said.
The pupils were also lucky enough to participate in a fire truck tour.
