Landcare Tasmania joined forces with Boag’s Brewery on Tuesday to tackle a chronic headache in West Tamar crown land – boneseed.
The nationally significant weed is considered one of the worst weeds in Australia because of its invasiveness.
About 45 staff from the brewery, plus Landcare Tasmania, West Tamar Council and West Tamar Landcare all did battle with the infesting boneseed, in a bid to protect the threatened Black Peppermint ecological community.
The fantastic collaboration of everyone involved is what the ethos of community Landcare is all about.

Boag’s Brewery manager Nathan Calman said the willingness of staff to get involved showed in the more than 50 cubic metres of weed the team hacked away from the native bush.
Landcare Tasmania chief executive Rod Knight said having so many willing hands meant far more could be achieved than expected.
“The fantastic collaboration of everyone involved is what the ethos of community Landcare is all about, engaging diverse players and enabling us to achieve something together that no one group could have managed alone,” Mr Knight said.
