The club defeated Ulverstone earlier in the year securing the Division 1 state pennant.
The Barclay Shield comprises two foursomes teams representing each club with the best aggregate declared the winners.
Prospect Vale had Janice Hatton and Julie Berne as one pairing and Marie Myrander and Tammy Hall the other with an aggregate of 158 compared to runners-up Tam O’Shanter’s Irma Gregory, Margaret Smith, Robyn Hatton and Elizabeth Triffitt on 158.5. Third was Moorina represented by Colleen Krushka, Lyn Mullins, Diane Rattray and Tania Thompson. Launceston were fourth ahead of defending champions Scamander River.
Orford pair Lynette Birch and Christine Bishop on 76 won best 18-hole nett ahead of Penguin’s Eunice Ray and Janette Mossop on 77.5.
Following the cancellation of last year’s Farmers Day tournament the Tam O’Shanter Golf Club is keen to host a big field in this year’s event on October 12. Entry details are available via the club website and facebook or by contacting the secretary Craig Peck on 0458 416 214 by October 2.
Prospect Vale Golf Club treasurer, Scott Limbrick, was playing in a corporate day at Country Club Tasmania last week with a new motor vehicle the prize for a hole-in-one at the tenth. Scott did have a hole-in-one but sadly it was at the eighth.
Bruce Eaton, the Southern Country Golf Secretary has advised that although only 18 juniors have entered the 2017 Southern Country Boys and Girls Championship at Colebrook on Tuesday, the event will go ahead and the draw has been distributed.
Rick Sindorff, the Northern Golf Secretary has advised that a similarly low number has entered the 2017 Student Championship of Tasmania at Launceston Golf Club on October 6. Contact Rick on 0418 909 589.
Both events incorporate selection of an under-15 team to play in the national championships in Sydney in November.
The under-18 events are Athol Shepherd Consistency events, part of the state team selection process.
Scamander River holds its Holden Scramble on October 8, followed by Exeter on October 22, Launceston October 29, Prospect Vale October 30, Mowbray November 2 and Greens Beach November 26
