The senior competition was taken out by Queechy High School and Waverley Primary School won the primary school competition.
More than 300 students from 19 different schools across Northern Tasmania took part in the event.
Event organiser Dennis Betts said he was thrilled with the day.
“It was a really fabulous day, he said.”
“Students get the opportunity to practice a skill, learn how important patience is and help each other.
“Lots of children today had never been fishing before, but get them fishing when they’re seven and 10 and they’ll be hooked for life.”
More than 100 fish were caught at the expo, including Timmy the tagged trout.
The prize trout was reeled in by Corey Dolbey, gifting him the $10,00 on offer for whoever caught the fish.
The heaviest fish caught over the weekend was 5.66 kilograms, and was reeled in by Ron Stewart.
