Wet and wild conditions on Saturday failed to deter the motor sport faithful that packed the hill adjacent to the circuit.
A prediction last week about the event’s success was spot-on, with organisers declaring the event their best ever.
About 5500 people packed the historic circuit to see the diverse racing machines.
Baskerville Historics chairman Mike Ellis said the weekend “was beyond our expectations”.
“By focusing on making this a family event, the committee is happy with the response from spectators and the crowd,” he said.
Mr Ellis said the diversity in vehicles on offer meant there was something for everything.
“The John Harvey and Allan Moffat VL Commodore was a massive drawcard,” he said.
Perhaps the only thing that could have outperformed that car in the interest stakes was the man who drove it.
Moffat spent the weekend scribbling his signature on everything from engine covers to pictures.
“It’s beyond words to say what he’s done for us,” Mr Ellis said.
“He’s asked if he can come back.”
Mr Ellis said there were plans to bring the Group A and C ex-touring cars – known fondly as the big bangers – to the event.
He said Dutton Garage had also committed to returning to next year’s event.
