After more than 100 games of under-14, 16 and 18 championships over the previous two weekends, Basketball Tasmania chief executive Chris McCoy is backing the state competitions towards working to long-term goals.
Basketball development manager and state head coach Mark Radford has assessed that the Tasmanian game at grassroots level has become more sophisticated.
“He’s happy of the level of improvement in the state,” McCoy said of Radford.
“We still have a long way to go, but he has seen some great signs that the style of play has improved.
“Young players have got more knowledgeable of game situations and what to do at particular times.
“But most of all, the level of talent has improved as well.
“He was happy with these outcomes – he still has work to do there, but it’s got a lot better in the five years that he has got on board. There is significant improvement.”
