Tasmania Labor Leader Rebecca White pledged to support aquaculture industries in the wake of a recent trip to the Petuna Aquaculture’s Cressy factory.

The Cressy fish farm plays an important role in the operations of the company by hosting the egg incubation process.

Ms White said the plant was a “success story”.

“The Labor Party is committed to aquaculture and the important role it plays in the Tasmanian economy,” she said.

“We need to keep and create full time jobs in regional areas and aquaculture is one industry which is doing this.”

Minister for Primary Industries Jeremy Rockliff pointed to the government’s industry growth plan as evidence of its commitment to aquaculture.
