The 2017 Baskerville Historics are set to showcase an unprecedented fleet of rare vehicles on the newly resurfaced Baskerville Raceway this weekend.
Headlining the three-day event will be Australian motor sport legend Allan Moffat and a collection of multi-million dollar historic race cars, shipped down by infamous luxury car collectors Duttons Garage.
Baskerville Historics chairman Mike Ellis said everyone would have their favourite vehicle.
“We’ll have a Donohue Formula 5000 and Donohue Porsche,” he said.
“The Porsche was put together by the Penske Racing team.”
It will be Moffat’s first visit to the Baskerville Raceway since the mid-1970s.
His VL Commodore, driven to victory in the World Touring Car Championship at Monza, is one of the starring machines on show.
Mr Ellis expected this year’s event would be the biggest in its history, with a crowd of up to 6000 people expected.
“This event has been running for nine years and it goes from strength to strength,” he said.
“The enthusiasm for motor sport in Tasmania is at an all-time high and the event is catering for the motoring enthusiast as well as families with young children.”
All money raised at the event will be funnelled into the Baskerville Raceway foundation.

In four years the foundation has raised about $1 million – all reinjected into the track and facilities.
Last year’s Historics event contributed $80,000 to the fund.
A track resurfacing earlier this year was the biggest infrastructure investment in the circuit since it was built in 1958.
This weekend, in an ultimate display of power, six-time Targa Tasmania champion Jason White will get behind the wheel of a Mclaren M8F set to be the largest capacity circuit racing car to ever appear at Baskerville.
About 200 car and 60 bike entries across 60 separate events will attend the Baskerville Historics.
“It’s going to be a whole mix of motorsport entertainment,” Mr Ellis said.
The Historics will be held from September 22 to 24, with qualifying on Friday followed by two-days of racing.
