NTFA president Paul Reynolds confirmed that crowd figures at the division 1 and division 2 grand finals were up from last year as South Launceston and Lilydale won senior premierships respectively.
“I think it was about 300 up which would take it over 3000 on the Saturday just gone and the Saturday before it was quite significantly up,” Reynolds said.
“It sort of gives you a feeling that we’re heading in the right direction but we just need to tidy a few things up in the background.”
Windsor Park hosted all grand finals for the second year running while Invermay Park hosted elimination, semi and preliminary finals in the competition’s second division.
Reynolds said while a grand final venue was yet to be locked in for 2018, the board was happy with how Windsor Park had held up across the past two seasons.
“It’s certainly proven to be a great grand final venue for us the past two years and Invermay Park has also been great with the facilities and the surface there.
“We are still talking to West Tamar Council in relation to our commitment because it also involves discussions with Launceston Football Club and ensuring that it meets our sponsors’ needs.”
Reynolds said he was pleased with how smoothly Bridport and grand finalists East Coast had slotted into the division 2 competition after joining from the North East Football Union.
