Tasmanian Hospitality Association general manager Steve Old said the awards have recognised Tasmanian venues as being some of the best in the country.
“With Hospitality being the third largest employing in the state with around 10 per cent of the workforce, it is vitally important to our state that we have a strong and vibrant industry,” Mr Old said.
“For 9/11 Launceston City to be judged the Best Retail Liquor Outlet in the country is great reward to the hardworking team at Vantage Group in Tasmania.”
Riversdale Estate in Cambridge took out the Best Restaurant – Regional category.
The Overall Hotel of the Year (Accommodation Division) was won by The Henry Jones Art Hotel in Hobart.
“Tasmania did extremely well in all categories and feedback from the judges suggested that we were not far away from winning many more awards on the night with several of our venues a close second in their chosen category,” Mr Old said.
“It was a proud night to be involved in the Tasmanian hospitality industry.”
Australian Hospitality Association president Scott Leach said the hospitality industry set the standard internationally, which was recognised at awards nights.
The winners were chosen from more than 5000 members from across the country, Mr Leach said.
The night enabled the industry to reward new ideas, hard work and excellence in a variety of venues, from homestyle cafes to five-star hotels, he said.
