A MAJOR multi-million dollar redevelopment of the Hobart waterfront had been scrapped.Hunter Developments, a consortium which includes the Federal Group, Peppermint Bay Hobart Cruises owner Simon Currant and the Roche family, was selected as the developer for the Brooke St and Franklin wharfs in July last year. But the group issued a press statement this morning to say that it had withdrawn its proposal, which had included the building of two piers -- one with a three-storey hotel and the second with a ferry terminal.Hunter Developments Consortium spokesman Brendan Blomeley, said: ``Whilst we were obviously very keen to play a role in positively enhancing Hobart's enchanting waterfront for the enjoyment of all Tasmanians, it has become increasingly apparent over recent months that the likelihood of our vision proceeding is remote.''Mr Blomeley said the the group remained interested in the process for future developments of Sullivans Cove and, in particular, the Brooke Street ferry terminal.
