At 6.50pm on Sunday evening Tasmania Police and Tasmania Ambulance were summoned to the junction of Penguin road and Westland Drive, West Ulverstone, in relation to a crash between a Yamaha motorcyle and a Nissan utility.
The rider of the Yamaha motorcyle was flung from the bike after colliding with the utility vehicle, and died on the scene.
The driver of the Nissan utility was uninjured from the collision.
Neither alcohol nor speeding are considered to be factors in the fatality by Tasmania Police at this junction.
Witnesses to the incident are urged to contact crime stoppers on 131444.
UPDATE: 9.17PM – Tasmania Police have now re-opened Penguin Road in both directions, with more details to be reported on the incident shortly.
EARLIER
Emergency services are at the scene of a serious crash at Penguin Road, West Ulverstone according to Tasmania Police.
The crash has resulted in a road closure on the western side of Penguin Road at the Goats Island reserve area, and on the eastern side at Undara Crescent.
Motorists are advised to avoid the area until further notice.
