Women’s Footy
I’M VERY sorry Ted Horlock (The Examiner, September 7) but you (to me) have not watched closely or ever played footy yourself. To make such ridiculous comments as they are overweight and have limited skills amazes me.

Those young ladies were not only skilled at marking, handballing and kicking the ball down field to their team mates was fantastic.
I challenge you to run down the biggest of those players, let alone the smaller ones.
You need to watch more closely .

New Highway
I JUST travelled on the new section of road between Breadalbane to Perth.
I was amazed by the amount of re-sealing on this new road where there are potholes and the top surface is coming away from the road, is this the standard of our new highway resealing or is it just what the budget for new works buys? It hasn't been open for long so what is causing this road to break-up?
Anthony Galvin, Mayfield.
Marriage denied
SO A Presbyterian minister residing in Ballarat, has announced he will not marry a heterosexual couple. Why? Because he scrolled down their Facebook page and found that they supported gay marriage.
Why was he doing that in the first place and secondly, he is supposed to be Christian. Didn't Jesus tell us all to love everyone as we were all God's children?
If this is the attitude of some ministers, no wonder people are leaving churches.
Glennis Sleurink, Launceston.
Road Standards
HAVE any politicians, road engineers, road designers, road construction executives travelled the Midland Highway lately?
All I saw was wasted pavement, poor surface and ropes and pickets.
I thought the old road was probably better. I predict two months and it will require major maintenance
It would be good to get the old Hydro Electric Commission or Department of Main Roads back to build our roads, they knew how to do it.
Barry Crawford, Deloraine.
Fast Internet
THIS stupidity with an ever faster internet has many negative effects.
Big companies can have the internet sliced up into fast lanes, for those who can pay which slows down everyone else, stamping out competition from small business. My server told me so, when I told them my mobile was no longer working, they told me that even though I’ve been in this house for 15 years I was now in a black spot.
I said, ‘'that’s not possible, surely there should be an improvement”. I was told that because of the demand for ever faster internet other services, such as the mobile networks are depleted.
We are slowly, systematically becoming brainwashed, by this addictive entity and our appetite for news and information .
Don Davey, Launceston.
Vibrant Launceston
IT IS great to see Launceston once again a vibrant city with the three tiers of government all playing significant roles.
The City Heart project, North Bank development, university relocation and refurbished children’s wards at the Launceston General Hospital are all applauded government initiatives. And this, of course, encourages private enterprise which is most significant with the Silo Hotel, CH Smith renewal and two other hotels in the pipeline.
There’s an air of prosperity about our city all encouraged by sound stable government.
Now we need to address our sewerage problems and once again have the Tamar the city’s playground for all to enjoy.
It is hoped the latest report, one of many over the years, will quickly be followed by some action.
