Talented Tasmanian reinsman James Austin has been disqualified for 12 months after failing a routine drug test at the Hobart race meeting on July 21.

Stewards said the penalty took into account that it was his second offence “within a short time-frame”.

Trainer Kevin Denny has been fined a total of $2200 after his horse Bobbyjoe returned a positive swab at the Hobart trials on June 26.

A urine sample from Bobbyjoe contained the prohibited substance Altrenogest.
