The state government has launched a new campaign to help people better understand the most misunderstood road rules in Tasmania, such as indicating on roundabouts and approaching yellow traffic lights.
Simple answers to the most often-asked questions about road rules are available on the Road Safety Advisory Council website, or from Service Tasmania locations, the RACT, Tasmania Police and driver assessment centres.
Top 10 most misunderstood road rules in Tasmania:
- Roundabouts
- Giving way to pedestrians
- Mobile phones

- Keeping left
- Using headlights and fog lights
- U-turns
- Safe following distances
- School Zones
- Yellow traffic lights
Infrastructure Minister Rene Hidding said it was important that everyone take a look at the list and refresh themselves on the road rules, with some potentially having changed since drivers first obtained their licence.
