Launceston is set to again play host to a fresh round of Basketball Tasmania’s junior state championships.
Elphin Sports Centre last weekend had been the scene of the under-14 championships that had 32 association teams entered over four boys and girls divisions.
More than 450 of the state’s most talented teenage basketballers will turn up on Saturday and Sunday to fight out the under-16 and under-18s titles.
Basketball Tasmania chief executive Chris McCoy said the sport’s premier venue in Launceston was the ideal location to host a tournament of such magnitude.
“We run most of our big events at Elphin because it’s a central point for teams across the state,” he said.
“It’s also a four-court venue that works very well in the championship format.”
