The leaders raised the money by holding a casual clothes day, which allowed them to buy two large storage tubs full of children’s equipment. The group of 11 organised everything from the phone calls and emails, to the shopping trip.
They believed that it was important to give back to the community in their roles as prefects and house captains, as it provides a link with the community, and can foster good relations for future Brooks leaders.
LGH worker Tash Pursell was lost for words at the quality and quantity of the toys donated.
“It has been a long and busy winter for 4K and we have had a lot of patients that have been here for a long period of time, it was great to have new toys for them to play with to ease the stress of their admissions,” Tash said.
The group has been invited back to host some activities with the children of the ward later this year.
