The Launceston College teenager will participate in the four-day event after being chosen as the captain for the Tasmanian state team.
Miss Bessell said that the competition will be a unique challenge for Tasmanian competitors.
“Families in Toowoomba offered us horses to ride so we don’t have to take all of ours the 4000 kilometres,” she said.
“It means I’m on a completely strange horse [for the competition].”
Miss Bessell will compete in the showjumping and combined training events in the competition.
